My remote shuts off after a couple of minutes

Actually the remote has a built in sleep timer that will put it into sleep mode (to save the battery) if there is no activity for 3 mins.
Note: The sleep timer is disabled during the following conditions:
1. The remote is plugged into a power source via the USB connector
2. The remote is in sound trigger or TILT mode.

also...After charging be sure to press button 1 to re-enable the sleep timer.
