Feeder dispensing too many treats
Checklist for too many treats:
1. Dust or build up on the food detector located just below the brushes.
solution: remove the blue tube and the brush assembly and with a soft dry cloth brush away
any food on the detector(has 3 tiny circular dots below the brushes). For most dry food
this would only be needed after several loads in the hopper(blue tube which holds 5 cups of food)
2. Batteries in the feeder are low. There are 2 NON-RECHARGEABLE D-cell batteries in the
bottom of the feeder.
solution: replace the batteries with a fresh or put the feeder on the A/C adapter provided by Smart Animal Training Systems. The A/C adapter will not charge the batteries but only serves as optional power source.
3. Too small a treat. The feeder has worked well with small treats(ex. smaller than a Cheerio) however some may not work well.
solution: An unofficial tiny kibble adapter template can be found in the Pet Tutor(r) User Group.
4. Intense light shining into the food detector below the brushes. Intensity sunlight or intense interior light shining directly into the food detector(under the black square on the brush assembly) may reduce sensitivity.
solution: rotate the feeder to avoid the light or cover the area outside the tube in the region of the black square.
5. Food detector needs re-calibration. The food detector is calibrated at the factory but on a rare occasion may need to be re-calibrated.
solution: This procedure is outlined in the user manual under re-calibration of the kibble detector.
